Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Suryakumar Yadav pulled off a hilarious prank on teammate Tilak Varma on a flight after the sides’ comprehensive win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator. LSG’s Indian Premier League (IPL) came to a halt when they were thrashed by a massive 81 runs by Rohit Sharma and Co.
Coming to Suryakumar’s hilarious prank, he can be seen taking a lemon from one of the air hostesses and squeezing it into Tilak Varma who was sleeping with open mouth. The lemon drops abruptly woke Varma up, leaving him surprised with what just happened and he asked “Kya hain is mein (what is it?)” to his teammate. MI’s Twitter handle shared the post with the caption: “Chain se sona hai toh jaag jaao (If you want to sleep peacefully, wake up).

In that match against LSG, Suryakumar was in his element as he scored 33 runs from 22 balls, stitching a valuable stand with Cameron Green. On the other hand, Varma, who missed a few matches due to injury, scored 26 off 22 balls. Akash Madhwal was the hero of the match as he ran through LSG’s batting order with his fifer, conceding just five runs in 3.3 overs.
Rohit Sharma heaps praise on Akash Madhwal for his 5/5
Notably, MI defeated LSG for the first time in four attempts to clinch that memorable win. At the post-match presentation, MI skipper Rohit Sharma, apart from lavishing praise on the team’s performance, especially on Akash Madhwal, said that people don’t expect them to do certain things but they still manage to do them.
“That is what we have done over the years. People don’t expect us to do what we have done, but we managed to,” Rohit said during the post-match presentation ceremony. “He (Akash) was part of the team last year as a support bowler, and once Jofra (Archer) was gone, I knew he had the skills and the character to do the job for us,” he added.
MI will now face defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the second Qualifier, the winner of which will advance to the final where MS Dhoni and Co. are waiting to clash on Sunday (May 28).
