This isn’t the first time Jaiswal was seen angry on the field. During a Duleep Trophy match between West Zone and South Zone last year, Jaiswal got involved in an altercation with Ravi Teja. And when the sledging did not stop even after the intervention of West Zone skipper Ajinkya Rahane and the umpires, Jaiswal was sent off the field by Rahane.

Jaiswal etched his name on the record books when he slammed the century in his Test debut. He has scored 143* runs now and will open Day 3 along with Virat Kohli (36*).

Jaiswal came from a humble background and his road to earn a call-up to represent the national side wasn’t easy. After a series of remarkable performances in domestic cricket as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL), Jaiswal’s wish to play his first Test match was fulfilled. And after his maiden ton on debut, an emotional Jaiswal dedicated his achievement to his mother and father but also declared that this ton was just a start.

It is very emotional for me and my family. For everyone who has supported me in any way. It has been a long journey. I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me. I want to dedicate this to my mother and father, they’ve contributed a lot,” Jaiswal said after the match.
