WATCH: Umesh Yadav takes stunning catch at mid-off to send back Rohit Sharma in MI vs KKR

Mumbai Indians (MI) fans’ eyes lit up when they saw Rohit Sharma replacing Riley Meredith as the Impact Player in the second innings of the MI vs KKR clash on Sunday evening. The MI captain who sat out during the first inning, due to a “stomach bug” came to open the innings alongside Ishan Kishan. However, the move did not augur well for MI as Sharma was dismissed cheaply. Umesh Yadav took a stunning catch to send back Sharma.

Rohit was dismissed in the fifth over of MI’s innings as Suyash Sharma trapped the star batter with a fairly good delivery. As Sharma bowled a loopy leg-spinner, Rohit tried to chip it towards extra cover. However, with the ball holding up a bit and coming onto the bat a tad later than expected, the ball went up in the air. Umesh Yadav exhibited great athleticism to dive full-length to his left and pluck the ball out of thin air.

As Rohit failed to make an impact despite appearing only for a few balls, fans were quick to point out the flaws in the MI captain. A few looked disappointed with Rohit for exploiting the Impact Player rule and setting a wrong trend for a captain. However, some also looked impressed with the MI skipper for his commitment.

Ishan Kishan gets MI off to a flyer!

While Sharma failed to utilize the powerplay overs, his partner at the other end, Ishan Kishan made full use of the fielding restrictions. Kishan thrashed KKR bowlers left, right, and centre and notched up a half-century in just 21 balls. However, the southpaw perished while trying to take on Varun Chakravarthy.

Nevertheless, Kishan did his job of providing a blazing start perfectly. Meanwhile, the stand-in captain for MI, Suryakumar Yadav ensured he does not get out for a duck this time around.
