Suryakumar Yadav couldn’t capitalize on the chance given to him during a match against New Zealand on Sunday (October 22). It was his first World Cup match but a mix-up with Virat Kohli while running between the wickets led to his dismissal at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

This happened on the fifth ball of the 34th over. Kiwi paceman Trent Boult delivered on off stump to Surya and he pushed the ball toward the cover and ran for the single.

However, Kohli was watching the ball and saw the fielder collecting the ball toward Boult. Surya was on the verge of reaching the other end and quickly made the U-turn to reach the crease.

But Boult was quick to throw the ball to the keeper who wasted no time in removing the bails. Suryakumar scored just two runs off four balls on his World Cup debut. Fans on X blamed Kohli for the run out.

Virat Kohli engages in an animated chat with Rohit Sharma

During New Zealand‘s innings, India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were seen engaged in an animated chat. International Cricket Council (ICC) shared the video on Instagram and it left the fans curious about what they could be discussing.

“The two India seniors have an animated chat,” ICC wrote. Check the video here:

Talking about the match, Kohli is now shouldering the responsibility to take India toward the 274-run target. He has already scored his half-century and is on the verge of reaching another century. If he stays at the crease for a bit longer, India can beat New Zealand for the first time in 20 years in ICC events.
