In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), UP Warriorz’s (UPW) captain Alyssa Healy tried to tackle a pitch invader during their match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday (February 28) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The incident drew funny reactions from netizens as well.

This happened in the last over of MI’s innings. Anjali Sarvani was the bowler and she dismissed Sajeevan Sajana. Right after the penultimate delivery, a man running onto the field after breaching tight security caught everyone’s attention.

Other batters’ small contributions helped MI post 161/6 in 20 overs. The Warriorz started well with openers Healy and Kiran Navgire scoring 33 and 57 runs. Later, Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma took the Warriorz past the target, and they won the match by seven wickets.

This was UP’s first victory after two consecutive defeats. Defending champions MI have played three matches, winning two of them. The table toppers right now are the Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who have won all the three matches they’ve played so far.

UP Warriorz will next face Gujarat Gitans on Friday (March 1). Mumbai’s next match is on March 2 against RCB.
