Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat displayed his brilliant efforts with the gloves in their second match of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) against Punjab Kings (PBKS). On Monday (March 25) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rawat plucked the ball out of thin air to dismiss Sam Curran.

In the 18th over, Yash Dayal bowled a bouncer which Curran sent behind. It wasn’t easy for Rawat to grab it easily. With an eye on the ball, Rawat had to sprint backward and with a stretched arm, he finally grabbed it safely. Curran scored 23 from 17 balls with three boundaries at a strike rate of 135.29.

Anuj Rawat reveals what RCB management told him

Rawat displayed his batting prowess when he scored 48 runs from 25 balls in RCB’s first match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai. Before the match against PBKS, Rawat said that the RCB management communicated clearly about the role he has to play for the team.

The communication has been very clear to me in batting down the order. As someone keeping wickets, you have to bat in the middle order a lot. Last season also, I kept wickets in a few games, and it gave me more confidence as this season goes on, I am looking forward to contributing more as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
Rawat said in a press conference before the match against PBKS

Rawat made his debut in IPL 2021 and played just two matches that season for Rajasthan Royals. RCB roped him in the 2022 Mega Auction for INR 3.4 crore.
