Bangladesh Captain, Shakib Al Hassan, is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the modern era of the game. He is one of the best players Bangladesh has produced and has also captained Bangladesh in many instances. Indian star, Virat Kohli had a lot of great things to say about the all-rounder. 

In a video released by Star Sports, Virat Kohli spoke about Shakib Al Hassan. Kohli said, “Over the years, I’ve played a lot against him (Shakib). He’s got amazing control. He’s a very experienced bowler. He bowls very well with the new ball, knows how to deceive the batsman, and is also very economical.”

In the 243 ODIs Shakib has played, he has scored 7439 runs with an average of 37.38. He has impressive numbers with the ball as well, picking up 313 wickets with 4 fifers. He has an average of 29.29 and an economy of just 4.45.

Shakib Al Hasan calls Virat Kohli the best batter of the modern era 

In the same video, Shakib Al Hassan said he was lucky to dismiss Virat Kohli. Talking about Kohli, Shakib said, “He’s a special batsman, probably the best batsman in the modern era. I think I’m lucky to get him out five times. Of course, it will give me great pleasure, taking his wicket.”

India and Bangladesh face off in the MCA Stadium, Pune on 19th in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. In the past 5 ODI matches between the two sides,  Bangladesh have won 3 of them. Unfortunately, Captain Shakib Al Hassan is still not in contention for the match due to an injury to his quadriceps. The Bangladesh team management is still hoping for him to be match fit for the big game in Pune.
