Royal Challengers Bangalore opener, Virat Kohli did not have the best evening tonight with the bat. Getting out after scoring just 7 runs in 8 balls. However, he received the applauds of the fans as well as commentators for his amazing show of sportsmanship in the first over of the game.

In the second ball of the first over, Virat Kohli played a shot towards square leg to snatch a run, his first of the game. However, RR’s Jos Buttler attempted a throw towards the non-striker’s end trying to run Kohli out. Kohli safely crossed the creased but the ball hit him and deflected to the other side forcing the Rajasthan fielder to go for the chase and save the boundary. Virat Kohli acknowledged the deflection and as show of respect, did not go on to make another run, getting applauds from everyone including the Rajasthan players.

Virat Kohli and RCB eliminated from IPL after losing to RR by 8 wickets

RCB eventually managed to put only 157 on the board as their middle order started to cripple after Rajat Patidar’s wicket. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals had a superb start thanks to the inform Jos Buttler who scored his 4th century of the season. Buttler also made it to over 800 runs this season as he is set to fly away with the Orange Cap of the season.

Buttler’s 106 off 60 balls, along with a helpful knock by skipper Sanju Samson was enough to take Rajasthan to the finish line. The loss means, Virat Kohli and RCB will have to wait another year to get a chance to play in the finals of IPL 2022. Rajasthan will face the Gujarat Titans on 30th May, at the Narendra Modi stadium for the Finals of IPL 2022.
