WATCH: Yashaswi Jaiswal stuns everyone with his direct hit against RCB, video goes viral
With this wicket of du Plessis, RR made a comeback into the game as they soon also got rid of Maxwell.
Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) took on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday. Samson won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. Trent Boult proved Samson’s decision to bowl first as the left-arm pacer dismissed Virat Kohli on the very first ball of the RCB innings. Boult then also sent back Shahbaz Ahmed on the first ball of his second over to reduce RCB to 12/2.
But Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis once again joined hands to bail RCB out of trouble and the two star players aced their job to perfection. While du Plessis rotated the strike, Maxwell took the RR bowlers to the cleaners, bringing up a half-century in just 27 balls. With the duo going strong, RR needed a miracle to break the partnership and Yashaswi Jaiswal was the guy to produce it.
Jaiswal nailed a direct hit from mid-off to run du Plessis out and break the 127-run partnership. As the RCB batter played a full toss from Sandeep Sharma wide of mid-off, du Plessis thought of sneaking in a single. However, Jaiswal was quick to reach for the ball and recover just in time to throw the ball at the stumps. The RR fielder not only threw the ball but hit the sticks while du Plessis was a few yards short of his crease.
Middle muddle for RCB!
With this wicket of du Plessis, RR made a comeback into the game as they soon also got rid of Maxwell. The Australian all-rounder was dismissed by R Ashwin while trying to switch-hit the spinner. This triggered a collapse. Mahipal Lomror, who was sent in to bat ahead of Suyash Prabhudessai once again failed to make an impact as the southpaw was caught out at long-off. Meanwhile, Prabhudessai was run-out after a horrible mix-up with Dinesh Karthik. So, RCB were restricted to 189/9 from a stage where they seemed to finish with a 220+ total.
