India rested the two senior players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the second ODI. This created a massive outrage on Twitter as fans started questioning the need for an experiment when just two months are left for the ODI World Cup. Instead of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya led the side. Sanju Samson came in at the No.3 position.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill opened for India and they stitched a 90-run stand. But after their dismissal, the visitors faced a quick collapse. Kishan scored 55 off 55, while Gill played a 49-ball 34-run knock. Other batters failed to reach even the 30-run mark. Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd shared six wickets between them.

West Indies, with Shai Hope‘s 63* off 80 and Kyle Mayers’ 36 off 28 reached the 182-run target in 36.4 overs, winning the match by six wickets. The series decider will be played on Monday (August 1) at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
