Rinku Singh became a household name after he hit five consecutive sixes off Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Yash Dayal deliveries in the last over of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rinku did not stop there. He continued to display his prowess in India matches as well and his next assignment will be the second T20I against South Africa (the first match was called off due to rain). The 26-year-old has been compared with several great finishers by the fans, including former India captain MS Dhoni.

ESPNcricinfo asked Afghanistan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz who he would pick between Dhoni and Rinku if 30 runs needed to be scored in the last over of a T20 match. After thinking for a few seconds, Gurbaz chose Dhoni.

You can't compare anyone with MS Dhoni and his finishing, but Rinku is also outstanding. I will go with Dhoni.

Sunil Gavaskar says Indian fans want Rinku Singh to be like Yuvraj Singh

The legendary Sunil Gavaskar feels the Indian cricket fraternity wants Rinku Singh to be another Yuvraj Singh. While speaking on Star Sports on the sidelines of the first T20I match against South Africa, he called Rinku a talented player. The Indian great lauded the youngster for perfectly grabbing the opportunity in the 2023 IPL and showing what he is capable of after being in the squad for a long time.

They are now expecting him to be another Yuvraj Singh. Rinku Singh - Yuvraj Singh. So, if you can do even a fraction of what Yuvraj did for Indian cricket, then he will have done wonderfully well.
