Neem Karoli Baba or Neeb Karori Baba was a Hindu guru and a devotee of Hanuman. Apart from Vrindavan, his ashrams are in Neem Karoli village near Khimsepur in Farrukhabad, Rishikesh, Shimla, Kainchi, Bhumiadhar, Hanumangarhi, and Delhi in India and the United States.

Although the exact date of birth is not known, he was born around 1900 to a Brahmin family in the Akbarpur village in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh. His birth name was Lakshman Narayan Sharma. When he was 11 years old, his parents got him married. But he left home to become a wandering Sadhu. But his father persuaded him to come back, which he did. He then had two sons and a daughter.

As per a story of Ram Dass (an American spiritual teacher), Lakshman Das left home again in 1958. As he had no tickets, he was forced to get off the train. He found himself in the village of Neem Karoli. He was later asked to get back on the train.

Baba lived the life of a wanderer and visited several places. Two ashrams were built during his time, one at Kainchi and the other at Vrindavan. Kainchi Dham ashram was built in 1964 with a Hanuman ashram, where the Baba stayed for the rest of his life. After slipping into diabetic coma, he died on September 11, 1973, in a hospital at Vrindavan.

Many Americans traveled to India to pay a visit to the Ashram. His notable disciples apart from Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are spiritual guru Ram Dass and Bhagavan Das, musicians Jai Uttal and Krishna Das, humanitarian Larry Brilliant, his wife Girjia, and author Daniel Holeman.

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs along with Dan Kottke visited the ashram in 1974 but found that the Baba had died the previous September. Mark Zuckerberg was influenced by Steve Jobs and visited the ashram in Kainchi. In an interview, Hollywood actress Julia Roberts also revealed that she was influenced by Neem Karoli Baba.
