India’s batting stalwart Virat Kohli is hailed as one of the greatest to have played the game of cricket. While there are no questions about Kohli’s batting prowess, Harbhajan Singh came up with a unique reference where he called Jasprit Bumrah the Virat Kohli of bowling.
As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Bumrah’s return to International cricket through the T20I series against Ireland, there was a wave of happiness in the Indian cricket fraternity. Harbhajan Singh was also thrilled about this piece of news.
The former India cricketer took to his YouTube channel to express his happiness and it was then Singh called Bumrah, Kohli of bowling. Singh hoped that Bumrah makes the most of his comeback and does not get injured again.
“Jasprit Bumrah has made a comeback. He was injured for a long time and his return was awaited. He has come back and has been made the captain straightaway. Congratulations to Jassi for becoming the captain and foremost for getting fit. I hope and keep my fingers crossed that Jassi doesn’t get injured again,” said Harbhajan in a video shared on his YouTube channel.
Harbhajan Singh claims there is no bigger name than Jasprit Bumrah
Talking about how dearly the India pace spearhead was missed, Harbhajan Singh claimed that there is no bigger name than Jasprit Bumrah in bowling. Singh explained how India missed Bumrah at big events like the WTC Final and how his comeback will be one to watch out for.
“He has been missed a lot, whether you see the WTC final or the cricket that was played before that. I used to say earlier and am saying it today as well that if we talk about batting, we talk about Virat Kohli, and if there is a Virat Kohli of bowling, it is Jasprit Bumrah. There is no bigger name than him,” added Bumrah’s former MI teammate.
Notably, Bumrah has been named the captain of the Indian team for the Ireland T20I series. After the three T20Is, Bumrah is expected to take part in the 2023 Asia Cup and most importantly, the 2023 ODI World Cup.
