If BCCI launches the T10 league, without a doubt, it’s going to be a success like the IPL. A fast-paced cricket with batters trying to score a lot of runs by hitting sixes and fours will entertain the fans more. But will it overshadow the popularity of the IPL?

What will happen to the IPL? Are the existing franchises asked to sign a contract with the BCCI for the T10 league?

The report published by Moneycontrol.com says the existing IPL franchises have the right to refuse to be a part of the T10 league. The BCCI is also contemplating how the T10 won’t become more popular than the IPL.

Else, what’s the guarantee that it will not begin to eat into the IPL’s popularity over the years? Right now, the IPL’s biggest strengths are a) It caters to Indian prime-time like no other cricket property; b) The world’s best white-ball cricketers participate in the league; and c) Corporate India looks forward to spending big on the league at multiple levels, thus ensuring the upkeep of the property’s central revenue model.

The source said that for a league to become successful in India, the most important factor is to make sure it attracts the best white-ball cricketers from across the world. The BCCI knows that they won’t face any problems with the first and third cases, given the popularity of cricket in India.
