Ever since becoming the captain of Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya has been targeted by fans. He is subjected to hate and abuse daily on all social media sites and is regularly booed when on the field.
So far, Hardik Pandya has played only two matches for MI, with losses coming in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. For his third match in charge, he will finally lead the team at their home ground Wankhede, on 1st April against Rajasthan Royals. They will then play their next three matches at home, with many expecting the Mumbai crowd to give Pandya a tough time.
There have been reports claiming that the Mumbai Cricket Association will be removing and arresting fans for booing the MI captain, but the Mumbai Cricket Association has now come out and denied the rumors. They have confirmed they will follow all guidelines set by the BCCI when it comes to managing fans in the stadium.
Manoj Tiwary expects worse treatment of Hardik Pandya at Wankhede Stadium
During Hardik Panyda’s last two matches, he was not well received by the crowd. He was booed and taunted by fans as Mumbai Indians lost their first two matches. With him already being subjected to this by fans in the first two matches, Manoj Tiwary believes it would be worse at the Wankhede.
You have to see how he gets welcomed here in Mumbai because I think he is going to get booed a bit louder here. Because as a fan, Mumbai fan or a Rohit Sharma fan, nobody expected that captaincy would be given to Hardik.Manoj Tiwary to PTI
In his first match as captain, MI lost by six runs to Gujarat Titans. The next match saw a world record set, as Sunrisers Hyderabad smacked MI for 277 runs, the highest total in IPL history. Mumbai Indians now sit at the bottom of the IPL league table, without a single win.
