Former South Africa all-rounder Brian McMillan cited Virat Kohli‘s example to those players who prefer league matches over Test cricket. McMillan’s statement came after South Africa announced a second-string squad for the upcoming Test series in New Zealand.
New Zealand and South Africa are set to lock horns in February this year. When Cricket South Africa announced the squad, it prompted several prominent cricketers to criticize the board for valuing franchise cricket over national duty.

McMillan joined the discussion and said he hopes modern players are making enough money because if they don’t earn enough through playing for their countries, they will continue to value T20 leagues over the longest format. He cited Heinrich Klaasen’s example who recently retired from Test but plays league matches.
