With all-round performance by Trent Boult, and a combined efforts from batsmen, Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 24 runs on Sunday, May 16 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Eyeing the playoffs qualifications, Rajasthan Royals did no mistake, did not rely only on English player and the Orange Cap holder Jos Buttler. Every department succeeded in exerting to win this crucial match. Every batsman who batted, except for Buttler, had contributed to help the score reach 178.

Supergiants responded with openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul getting dismissed for 7 and 10 respectively. Trent Boult had done the first damage by dismissing de Kock with the assistance from Jimmy Neesham who had taken a spectacular low catch. Ayush Badoni had gone a duck off the speedster Boult’s lbw.

But once again Deepak Hooda showed his resilience and consistency and played a knock of 59 off 39 with 5 fours and 2 sixes. But half-century di no good to LSG much when Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a slower length ball. Hooda danced down the track and looked to hit it away. But with a thick edge, and the ball went onto his pad; it then rolled towards the wicket-keeper Sanju Samson.

Sanju Samson hurried there as the ball slipped from his grasp and touched the stumps and the bails didn’t come up. Samson then picked up the ball and tried to disturb the stumps again but he lost the ball in the process. At the end, to be very sure, Samson picked up the ball and uprooted one stump.

Hooda’s had given Rajasthan a much-needed wicket to break the partnership with Krunal Pandya. Krunal had scored 25 runs in 23 balls and Marcus Stoinis smashed 27 runs in 17 balls with two sixes and a four.
At end, LSG failed to reach the target and so win this win RR had reached the second position in the points table.
