The Hundred is really special for women’s cricket. I only expect WPL is only going to be bigger. It is massive for India cricket, make the Indian team stronger in a couple of years,” former English cricketer and now Mumbai Indians’ head coach Charlotte Edwards said ahead of the start of the tournament.

Like the WBBL and The Hundred leagues, India will also produce young talents, claimed India captain and Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur. “I think this is a great platform for all Indian players. We have been missing this tournament for a long time. In Australia, the WBBL, and The Hundred in England have produced so many hidden talents. After the WPL, we are definitely going to get some great talents,” Harmanpreet said during a virtual interaction.

The opening ceremony before the historic tournament will start at 5:30 PM IST. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced the guest list. Bollywood actresses Kiara Advani and Kirti Sanon will perform along with rapper and singer AP Dhillon. Singer Shankar Mahadevan will also be attending the event and sing the WPL anthem too.
