Twitter reacts to Wriddhiman Saha’s bold claims comparing himself to Dhoni, Russell
Being a wicketkeeper in India in the 2010s was not an easy task. Mainly because that spot was occupied by non-other than MS Dhoni and there was no replacing him, especially in the limited-overs format. Dhoni was the undisputed starter and captain. However, when the Ranchi boy decided to retire from the test format of cricket, Wriddhiman Saha was named as his successor. Hence, the now 37-year-old was labelled as a test specialist as his chances in ODI and T20s was limited. However, Wriddhiman Saha has hit back at his critics after fine performances for Gujrat Titans in the IPL this season.

“Don’t know why some people say I’m not a shorter-format player. But on my part, I’ve always liked to play shorter formats since my early years. I may not be having the physique of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Andre Russell or Chris Gayle. But the potential I have, I can make use of the Powerplay with my fearless attitude. And I’ve done that,” Saha was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. Twitter didn’t take his claims lightly, many trolling him for his bold claims.
Twitter’s reactions to Wriddhiman Saha’s claims
Wriddhiman Saha has scored 209 runs so far in 6 games for Gujrat Titans at an average of 34. He’s been quite helpful for Gujarat recently scoring 50s at crucial stages ensuring his team gets a good start. However, while his claims are a little too much for the fans, Pant’s poor performances might just mean that Saha has a shot at the World Cup T20 this year. But the 37-year-old will have to perform at his utmost best in the remaining games to ensure he is considered for selection.
