“Dissapointing when your integrity is questioned”- Wriddhiman Saha breaks silence on future for Bengal
Wriddhiman Saha
Indian wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha broke his silence on his domestic cricket career for Bengal for the current season. He confirmed that he won’t play for Bengal even after being selected in the squad for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy 2021-22. With a heavy heart Saha took this decision after 15 years since his debut for Bengal.
Through president Avishek Dalmiya and head coach Arun Lal, the Cricket Association of Bengal tried their best to change Saha’s mind. But Saha stayed with his decision commenting that CAB officials had questioned the veteran stumper’s commitment to Bengal cricket last year. He had made his debut for Bengal back in 2007. But he said it was ‘dissapointing’ to hear such comments.
“For me, too, it is a very sad feeling that I have to go through something like this after playing for Bengal for so long. It is disappointing that people make such comments and question your integrity. As a player, I had never faced such a thing in the past, but now that it has happened, even I need to (move on),” said Saha as quoted by Sportstar.
“There is still time left for next season”- Wriddhiman Saha
Wriddhiman Saha had represented Bengal in 122 first-class matches and 102 List A games. He then stated after deciding on his future for Bengal, he will meet the CAB president to complete the formation and wil take the NoC.
“Since I had made up my mind that I won’t play for Bengal, I had informed (the Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya) over phone. But I will meet him in person and finalise the formalities. “I have spoken to a lot of people, but no decision has been taken yet. There is still time left for next season…” added Saha.
