In what was a must-win game for India, the Men in Blue didn’t dissapoint the fans because they defeated South Africa by 48 runs in the third T20I where the Proteas are leading with 2-1. The credit goes to two players Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling.
India had scored 179/5 with the half-century knocks from Ruturaj Gaikwad (57) and Ishan Kishan (54) and some finishing touches by Hardik Pandya (31). South Africa didn’t give a decent start to the match because Axar Patel got the breakthrough by scalping the wicket of Proteas captain Temba Bavuma.
In the 6th over, other opener Hendricks was sent back by Harshal Patel’s slower full ball. Hendricks scored 23 runs, which is also the second highest for the team after Heinrich Klaasen’s 29 runs. Dwaine Pretorius tried to play a long match but soon, he too was sent back by Yuzvendra Chahal. Also Harshal Patel scalped four wickets by conceding 25 runs.
Yuzvendra Chahal who bagged the title of Most Wickets in IPL 2022 while playing for Rajasthan Royals; he was in a poor form in the first two T20Is. But in the match, he said adieu to his bad form and scalped three wickets; shattered South Africa’s middle-order batsmen.
Klaasen looked to steady their innings but he also became a prey to Chahal. In the last ball of 15th over, Chahal served up a slow, full ball and Heinrich shuffled across and looked to go over covers. No one from South Africa could score more than 30 runs. Also, it’s for the first time, Chahal has grabbed more than one wicket in T20I since December 2020.
