Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has quite easily been the best bowler of this season’s IPL. The 31-year-old leads the Purple Cap race with 22 wickets in 11 matches. At an average of 14.50, the leg-break spinner also boasts the best economy among the remaining bowlers who finish in the top 10 in the Purple Cap race. Yuzvendra Chahal unsurprisingly is the only bowler to have taken a hattrick this year as well. A feat he achieved against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, the bowler grabbed the headlines that night not just for his hattrick or his 5 wicket haul. It was for the celebration that followed next. Yuzvendra Chahal had somewhat become a meme icon when he was pictured lying down on the ground during the 2019 ODI World Cup. The bowler did a somewhat similar thing as a celebration when he grabbed his fifth wicket and first IPL career hattrick, dismissing Pat Cummins on the last ball of his spell.

Sharing the moment in a share chat audio room along with teammates Navdeep Saini and Kuldeep Sen, the bowler said, “I was not playing a game during the 2019 World Cup. So, I was lying on the ground and a picture of the same went viral on social media. Later, I got to know people are making memes out of it, so it was pretty special for me as well. Hence, I thought if I pick a five-wicket haul, I will celebrate with that pose. So it was already there on my head, and I celebrated the success with that pose.”
He further said, “I am feeling extremely happy about the first season and I was pretty excited since the start. When I reached the camp and met everyone I felt really happy. Currently, I am just enjoying each and every game and trying to work hard and give my best to the team in order to contribute to the win.”
