India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal won’t be a part of the 2023 Asia Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming continental tournament and one can see Chahal’s name missing from it.
This created a lot of stir on social media. After a considerable buzz, Chahal took to his X and Instagram Story and shared a cryptic post.
The 32-year-old dropped two emoticons- first, of the sun behind the clouds and a rising sun, indicating that the sun will rise again. Netizens were quick to dig out an old tweet of India captain Rohit Sharma who posted: “The sun will rise again tomorrow” after a snub from the England series in 2018.
“No door is closed for anyone at this point in time. Anyone can come in at any time. Chahal has played a lot of white-ball cricket if we feel like we need him for the World Cup, we can try and see how we can squeeze him,” Rohit Sharma said during the press conference after the announcement of the squad.

Chahal has played just two ODIs this year, picking up three wickets. In nine T20Is this year, he could grab nine wickets.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Asia Cup will start on August 30 between Pakistan and Nepal. India will kick start their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele.
