Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf made a shocking revelation after he met with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah during the International Cricket Council meeting in South Africa. Ashraf disclosed that though Pakistan’s revenue got doubled, India’s increased a lot because, according to him, ICC deducted the revenue of other member nations.

Ashraf said that he asked the ICC chairman to show him the calculation but his request was turned down. He said the ICC chairman told him that the calculations were already shown to former PCB chairman Najam Sethi.

However, Ashraf claimed that he checked with Sethi but the latter did not have the calculations. “I met Jay Shah and other board members, and I insisted that we take the international cricket forward together. I believe we will be better together.

This time, our revenue-sharing with the ICC doubled. But they deducted other countries’ shares and increased India’s and we took a stand,” Ashraf told Geo Super.

PCB has received 5.75 percent from ICC’s revenue model, while BCCI got 38.50 percent. BCCI is the richest cricketing board and got a massive $230 million from ICC’s overall revenue of $600 million.

PCB got $34.5 million from those $600 million. When ICC first announced this, the PCB at that time also raised the question of which methodology the ICC used in revenue sharing.

Meanwhile, the two rival teams, India and Pakistan will meet on September 2 in Sri Lanka in the forthcoming Asia Cup. If they reach the next stage, then they can meet for the second time in the continental tournament. After the Asia Cup, the two teams will lock horns in the ICC ODI World Cup on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
