During a match between India Maharajas and Asia Lions of the Legends League Cricket, something happened which did not take much time to go viral on the internet. Ex-cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi from India and Pakistan respectively, are known to be two of the most aggressive competitors on the field. 

But one incident during the Legends League match between the two teams grabbed the limelight. During the Maharajas’ batting, Gambhir was on the strike and a delivery from Abdul Razzaq in the 12th over hit Gambhir on the helmet. He was trying to push the ball towards the fine-leg boundary but the ball first hit the edge of the bat and then Gambhir’s helmet.

Although Gambhir was not injured badly, Shahid Afridi went to inquire if Gambhir was alright before resuming the game. And this gesture from the former allrounder is winning the hearts of the fans on the internet. Two two even had a highly awkward handshake during the toss.

The exchange during the match rekindled their old rivalry among the fans. The incident on Friday was their first meeting after almost a decade.

The match took place on Friday (March 10) at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha. Asia Lions won the toss and decided to bat first. Misbah-ul-Haq scored the most with his 73 off 50 balls, while Upul Tharanga scored 40 to put on 146/6 on the scoreboard.

Among the India Maharajas batters, Gautam Gambhir slammed a half-century, scoring 54 runs from 39 balls. Murali Vijay and Mohammad Kaif added 25 and 22 respectively. Those scores weren’t enough to win the match and the Aisa Lions won it by nine runs.
