The revenge is finally taken! Team New Zealand registered an emphatic win over England in the first semi-final match of the ongoing 2021 ICC T20 World Cup on Wednesday.
NZ skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. The England batters posted a decent total of 166/4 on the board with the help of great knocks from Dawid Malan (41) and Moeen Ali (51*) during the latter half of the innings.
The Blackcaps tried as many as seven bowling options while speedster Tim Southee emerged as the pick of the bowlers with his spell of 1/24 in four overs.
In reply, the English bowlers were all over the Kiwis as they reduced the opposition to 13/2 inside three overs. However, Daryl Mitchell (72*) stitched a decent partnership with Devon Conway (46) before Jimmy Neesham played a blinder at the death overs. The latter smashed 27 runs off just 11 balls (1 four and 3 sixes) to take his side home with five wickets in hand at the end of the penultimate over.
