Inzamam-ul-Haq

Former Pakistan skipper and one of the greatest batters of all time, Inzamam-ul-Haq was rushed to hospital after he suffered a heart attack in Lahore on Monday evening.

A recent report in ESPNCricinfo confirmed that the former right-hander was declared ‘stable’ after he underwent a successful angioplasty. The report further reckoned that Inzamam complained of chest pain for the last three days but initial reports had cleared him.

“He had been complaining about chest pain over the last three days. Initial testing cleared him but tests on Monday revealed he had suffered a heart attack and had to be rushed for surgery. According to his agent, Inzamam was stable but under observation,” the report stated.

Inzamam, 51, is Pakistan’s all-time highest run-getter in One Day Internationals (ODIs) with 11,701 runs in 375 matches. He is also the third-highest run-scorer in Test cricket with 8,829 runs in 119 games. The Multan-born was also among the country’s most successful captains in the history of the game.

Inzamam-ul-Haq announced his retirement from international cricket in 2007 and has since held several positions in Pakistan, as Pakistan’s batting consultant and chief selector from 2016 to 2019. He has also worked as head coach of Afghanistan in the past.
