Pakistan pacer tests positive for COVID-19, likely to miss first Test against Australia

Before the first Test against Australia begins on March 4, Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was tested positive for Covid-19. He was moved to the biosecure bubble for the test series after he returned positive. The rest of the members of the Test squad tested negative.

Early in the morning, the tests were given. All members, including Haris, had their tests done at the Pindi Cricket Stadium when they were practicing. The ground doctor transferred Haris to isolation after receiving Covid-19 reports. Haris and others have joined the Test squad since yesterday. After the HBL Pakistan Super League season seven final took place on Sunday, where Lahore Qalandars won, the player joined the squad.

Few other Pakistan Players to miss first Test against Australia

It is important to remember that Pakistan’s Test squad has already been compromised by injuries. Due to injuries, Mohammed Nawaz will miss both Tests. In addition, pacer Hasan Ali (abductor strain) and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf (hamstring strain) will miss the first match. Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jnr have been called up by Pakistan to replace them, but they may have to turn to their reserves, including Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah as backups.

The first Test series between Pakistan and Rawalpindi will start on March 4. There will be three Tests, three one-day internationals, and a twenty20 international between Australia and Pakistan. There will be an opening Test series at Rawalpindi and a white-ball leg in Karachi, while the second and third test will be played in Lahore and Karachi respectively.
