Rishabh Pant Reveals What MS Dhoni Told Him When Giving his Indian Team Cap

Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant is part of the playing XI for the Indian team for the World Test Championship final. The energetic wicket keeper has earned his spot in the team after playing at an elite level for the last few years.

Initially, Pant was under a lot of pressure as he was replacing MS Dhoni in the team. After the retirement of Dhoni, any player who was playing as a wicket keeper had a huge responsibility on his shoulder. While it took some time for Pant to make the necessary adjustments, he is arguably one of the best wicket keepers in the world right now.

Ahead of the WTC final, Pant appeared for an interview with ICC and shared some stories about his Instagram pictures. One such picture was Pant, receiving his debut cap from Dhoni. On being asked the story behind the picture, he said:

It was something special because he’s someone I look up to for everything. Getting a cap from him was very special for me. He just told me to enjoy the cricket, that’s the only thing he said to me.”

MS Dhoni is a historical figure in Indian cricket history. He is one of the best players of our generation and an inspiration to many cricket players. Rishabh Pant is no different as he must have grown up looking up to MS.

If Pant can walk on a similar path like his idol, he will also be remembered as a cricket legend by fans. The 23-year-old will have a chance to win the first ICC trophy of his career pretty soon.
