During their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma was seen giving a virtual hug to a pitch invader.

MI had posted a solid total of 151 on the board, thanks to a stunning knock from Suryakumar Yadav. He scored 68 points on 34 balls, including six massive over-the-fence hits.

In response, RCB got off to a good start with a 50-run opening stand. Soon after, Faf du Plessis was out, and Virat Kohli stepped in to do what he does best: chase down totals with ease.

During the chase, a fan broke through the security and ran toward Rohit. Due to understandable Covid-19 guidelines, the MI captain Rohit Sharma was seen turning back and distancing himself from the fan. Rohit Sharma then gave him a virtual hug, and RCB batsman Virat Kohli was seen appreciating the gesture.

Following the seven-wicket loss against RCB, MI skipper, Rohit reckoned the side they picked with the players available was good. He also admitted that he wanted to bat long, but was dismissed for 26 after getting a start.

“Just the combination that we felt would be ideal on certain pitches and certain opposition. We wanted to strengthen our batting, unfortunately we had few overseas guys who were unavailable, so we wanted to get the best from whatever we had. Just got 26, I wanted to bat as long as possible, but unfortunately I got out at the wrong time,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation.
