IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma fined 12 lakhs for slow over rate

The Mumbai-based franchise was defeated by the Delhi Capitals by four wickets in their first match of the season. MI dominated DC for the majority of the game, but an unbeaten 75-run seventh-wicket stand between Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav denied them victory in their first match.
The game ended a few minutes after it was supposed to Sharma was fined as a result.
“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” a statement on IPL’s official website read.
Captain Rohit Sharma stated that his batters performed admirably during the post-match presentation following his team’s defeat. However, he believed the bowlers were unable to carry out their plans. Rohit Sharma accepted the team’s mistakes and hoped for a better performance in their next matches.

In Mumbai Indians’ first IPL 2022 match, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan performed admirably
Rishabh Pant, captain of the Delhi Capitals, won the toss and invited MI to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan put on a 67-run opening stand before Kuldeep Yadav sent the former back to the pavilion. The Mumbai captain scored 41 runs off 32 balls.
Kishan batted at one end and was unbeaten until the end of the Mumbai Indians’ innings. He hit 11 fours and two sixes in his 81-run innings. Rohit Sharma and Kishan expect their teammates to perform better against the Rajasthan Royals on April 2.
