Rohit Sharma’s old tweet goes viral after he archives career-best Test rankings

Rohit Sharma
India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma has seen a meteoric rise in his career in the purest format of the game. Rohit’s journey from being a failed prodigy to the world’s top-ranked opening batsman is nothing less than an inspiration. The 34-year-old made it to the headlines of all the leading newspapers on Saturday 1, Tuesday as he leapfrogged Virat Kohli to acquire the fifth position in the latest Test batsmen rankings by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Rohit now has 773 points under his belt as a Test batsman and is the world’s top-ranked Test opening batter. He is just behind England’s Joe Root, New Zealand Kane Williamson, Australia’s Steven Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne in the ICC Test rankings. As the Mumbai-born achieved a new milestone in the longest format of the game, the fans managed to dig up one of his old tweets.
Sharma’s old tweet that has gone viral on social media reads, “Sun will rise again tomorrow”. The cricket fanatics are linking the motivational tweet by Rohit from 2018 to his exceptional rise in Test cricket.
Rohit Sharma’s rise in Test cricket

Notably, the Indian selectors no longer saw Rohit Sharma in the Indian Test team’s scheme of things till 2019. Making his debut in 2013, the 34-year-old had a blistering start to his Test career. Rohit announced himself in the longer format with a century against West Indies. However, things didn’t go as per the plan for the right-hander and he soon found himself struggling to confirm a slot in India’s Test team.
Finally, in 2019, Rohit was again given a chance to prove his capabilities as a Test batsman. The limited-overs vice-captain made sure to capitalize on the opportunity provided to him in the home Test series against South Africa in 2019. He amassed a whopping 529 runs in the series to hold the record for smashing most runs in a series by an Indian opener.
After that, there was no looking back for the Mumbai Indians skipper. Rohit is now a vital force behind India’s success in the purest format of the game and is unarguably the best Test opening batsman.
