Kumar Sangakkara, Rajasthan Royals cricket director and head coach has praised RR’s two spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. Sangakkara said that he was surprised to see the two spinners perform. He also revealed that he never expected to have India’s best Red ball and While ball spinner for the RR team.
“I think they are the best two spinners going around by far. They bowl extremely well together; they bowl well individually. Both of them are aware of their skills and strengths. We never expected to get both of them in the auction, let alone one. But we were luck and fortunate to have them and all we are trying to do is support them to get better. They just go out there and lead our attract and have been excellent.” Said Sangakkara in a post-match press conference.
Sangakkara lauds youngster Kuldeep Sen as well
In yesterday’s match between RR and Lucknow Super Giants, the former defeated the latter by just three runs. With the help of Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 59 off 36 balls and Yuzvendra Chahal’s four-wicket haul, and a thrilling last over of youngster Kuldeep Sen, RR were able to survive a Marcus Stoinis threat. Sangakkara lauded youngster Kuldeep Sen’s efforts in the last over to save RR their second defeat.
“I had no conversation with Kuldeep regarding the last over. I think Sanju, Jos, and other players around supported him. We had pretty simple plans of bowling in the death. I just want to say how he impressed everyone and especially me. The way he handled his first game and bowled at the right lengths in the hardest over,” added Sangakkara.
