The 14th match of the ongoing 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League saw an enthralling game of cricket between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Seam all-rounder Sheldon Cottrell was the wrecker-in-chief for Patriots as he delivered an all-round performance to lead his team to a two-wicket victory.
The exciting game of cricket between the two sides commenced with the home skipper DJ Bravo winning the toss and inviting the opposition to put the total on the board. Batting in the first innings, Barbados got off to a poor start as they lost their opening batsman Shai Hope at a score of 8.
Under the pressure situation, Smit Patel stepped up to play an exemplary knock of 54 runs. The batsman found an ally in Johnson Charles who added 36 runs to the scoreboard in 26 deliveries. In the end, Barbados managed to put 160 runs in their 20 overs. For Patriots, skipper Bravo was the pick of the bowler with a four-wicket haul. Cottrell scalped one wicket while Paul van Meekeren had two under his belt.

The second innings saw Patriots getting a good start with the willow. The hosts found themselves at 84 runs in 12 overs. However, the dismissal of Devon Thomas in the 13th over caused a collapse of the batting line-up. The home team quickly went from 84/1 to 98/6.
As the hosts struggled to get going, Dominic Drakes and Sheldon Cottrell rose to the occasion and played quickfire cameos. Drakes smashed 28 runs off 15 balls. Meanwhile, it was Cottrell who stole all the thunder with his masterclass knock of 20 runs off seven balls.
The highlight of Sheldon’s innings was the all-rounder hammering a maximum on the very last ball of the match to help his team cross the line. The 32-year-old pumped Ashley Nurse over long-off to win the game.
