“Gabbar is Back” – Fans laud Shikhar Dhawan’s brilliant fifty as Punjab Kings give a mammoth 199 run target to MI
Shikhar Dhawan
Punjab’s innings ended in a match between Punjab Kings (MI vs PBKS) and Mumbai Indians at MCA ground in Pune. Captain Mayank and star batsman Shikhar Dhawan half-centuries helped Punjab reach 198 runs and Mumbai need 199 runs to win. As the Mumbai bowlers did not perform well in the match, Punjab maintained their batting prowess from the outset. Due to good bowling in the last few overs, the score has not crossed 200 but 199 is also a strong target for Mumbai to win.
Mumbai have lost four matches in a row in this year’s tournament. Since they have not been able to win a single match, do they still account for the victory? It has everyone’s attention. Mumbai’s hopes were dashed when Mumbai won the toss. Because this year too , the team that won the toss and elected to bowl first in the IPL seems to be winning the match. But this year, Mumbai’s bowling showed a slight decline, with Punjab scoring 198 runs.

Mayank Agarwal, Shikhar Dhawan power Punjab Kings to 198 for 5 against Mumbai Indians
Earlier, Rohit Sharma had won the toss as Mumbai Indians opted to bowl in the match 23 of the Indian Premier League. MI skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed that Tymal Mills has returned to the playing XI, replacing Ramandeep Singh. Meanwhile, PBKS remain unchanged from the previous match.
With four defeats from as many games so far, MI have a huge task at their hands in order to qualify for the playoffs at the end of the league phase. PBKS, on the other hand, suffered a narrow defeat in their previous match against Gujarat Titans (GT), and will look to get back to winning ways.
Shikhar Dhawan scored an excellent 70 while Mayank Agarwal also returned to run-scoring with a 52-run knock, as Punjab Kings reached 198/5 in 20 overs after being invited to bat by Rohit Sharma.
The opening duo forged a 97-run partnership before the MI hurt PBKS with regular wickets, as Bairstow (13) and Livingstone (2) fell cheaply in the innings. However, Jitesh Sharma (30*), alongside Shahrukh Khan (15) provided Punjab Kings with a late boost to take the side to near-200-run mark in the game.
For the MI, Basil Thampi took two wickets but he was fairly expensive, conceding 47 off his four overs. Murugan Ashwin, Jaydev Unadkat and Jasprit Bumrah all took a wicket each.
