In their third game of the IPL season, KKR takes on PBKS at the Wankhede stadium. Shreyas Iyer, the skipper of Kolkata, won the toss and chose to bowl first, citing the due in the second innings as the reason. Bhanuka Rajapaksa gave them a strong start inside the powerplay, and some of his shots were breathtaking and brilliant to watch.
Punjab got off to a shaky start, as they lost skipper Mayank Agarwal in the first over of the game. Umesh Yadav caught him plumb in front of the wicket and dismissed him. Bhanuka Rajapaksa was called to the crease as a result of this. He made a brief appearance, scoring 321 off 9 balls, and took a particular liking to Shivam Mavi, who was drafted into the side for tonight’s match.
Shivam Mavi, on the other hand, came back hard on the fifth delivery of the over, dismissing Rajapaksa, who tried to hit him over mid-off but was caught by Tim Southee at the end of the 30-yard circle. That marked the end of his cameo, much to the delight of KKR fans and players.
In the IPL, KKR has the upper hand over Punjab Kings. KKR has won 19 of the 29 games played between the two teams, while Punjab has won 10. Both franchises built a strong squad in the mega auction, and Punjab’s power was evident in their first game.
