SHOCKING – One big name from each franchise missing out on IPL 2022 retention list

KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya

The full list of retained players for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is finally out which is filled with several surprises. Almost every team has either retained or released an ‘out-of-the-box’ name ahead of the 15th season of the cash-rich league. Let’s look at one shocking name from each team that wasn’t retained for IPL 2022:

Royal Challengers Bangalore – Yuzvendra Chahal

One of the most successful bowlers in the IPL history – Yuzvendra Chahal emerged as a surprise omission by the Virat Kohli-led side. The 31-year-old has bowled exceptionally well for RCB in the last few years and the Bangalore-based franchise will definitely look to buy him at the mega auction.

Punjab Kings – KL Rahul

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have let go of their captain and one of the most consistent batters in the recent years of IPL, KL Rahul. However, PBKS head coach Anil Kumble revealed that the Karnataka batter wanted to try his luck at the auction to grab big bucks at the table.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – Rashid Khan

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) not picking Rashid Khan for IPL 2022 emerged as one of the biggest shockers ahead of IPL 2022. The Afghan spinner is the current number one spinner in the limited-overs formats and was an absolute no-brainer to pick by any T20 franchise.

Mumbai Indians – Hardik Pandya

One of the greatest Indian all-rounders of recent times, Hardik Pandya, also failed to be retained by the five-time IPL champions – Mumbai Indians. His poor form in recent games and regular injury concerns could be one of the greatest reasons behind his omission from MI’s retention list.

Chennai Super Kings – Suresh Raina

Mr IPL Suresh Raina will also go to the IPL 2022 auction pool after not being retained by the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This also means an end to the bromance of MS Dhoni and Raina in the Indian T20 League ahead of the forthcoming IPL season.

Delhi Capitals – Shikhar Dhawan

The Delhi Capitals (DC) retained as many as four players for IPL 2022 but Shikhar Dhawan’s name wasn’t there in that list. The southpaw will now have to find a new franchise in IPL 2022 despite such a stellar batting performance in the last few IPL editions.

Rajasthan Royals – Jofra Archer

One of the most lethal speedsters across formats all over the world, Jofra Archer, went missing from Rajasthan Royals’ players’ retention list for IPL 2022. The Englishman has been missing from action from the last time but his calibre isn’t hidden from any cricket lover.

Kolkata Knight Riders – Eoin Morgan

One of the most successful white-ball captains – Eoin Morgan wasn’t retained by the Kolkata-based franchise for IPL 2022. The English skipper had led KKR to the finals in the last year but his horrible batting form could be the reason behind his omission from Kolkata’s team.
