South Africa vs Sri Lanka player ratings: Tabraiz Shamsi’s exploits put South Africa on top against Sri Lanka by 4 wickets

South Africa inch closer to confirming a top-two finish in Group 1 with a victory over Sri Lanka by four wickets. Both batting and bowling units looked in fine touch as the South Africa players gave no chances to the opposition team to dominate the game. 

Player ratings for South Africa vs Sri Lanka clash 

South Africa 

Quinton de Kock (3/10): Quinton de Kock’s poor form with the willow continues. The batter could hit just 12 runs off 10 balls before losing his wicket to Dushmantha Chameera. 

Temba Bavuma (c) (8/10): The skipper Temba Bavuma finished as the highest run-getter for South Africa. Bavuma played a sensible knock of 46 runs. 

Aiden Markram (4/10): It was a bad day at the office for Aiden Markram. Wanindu Hasaranga ended Markram’s stay in the middle when the batter was playing at 19 runs off 20 balls. 

Rassie van der Dussen (4/10): Rassie van der Dussen also looked out of form during the game as he gifted his wicket after scoring 16 runs. 

David Miller (8/10): David Miller showed his class with the willow by playing some good shots in the end to take his team home. Miller scored not out 23 runs off 13 balls. 

Reeza Hendricks (2.5/10): Heinrich Klaasen needs to come back stronger in the next game. The batter lost his wicket to Dushmantha Chameera after posting 11 runs on the scoreboard off 12 balls. 

Dwaine Pretorius (1/10): The middle-order batter Dwaine Pretorius succumbed to a torrid outing. He was dismissed on a golden duck in the match. 

Kagiso Rabada (7/10): Kagiso Rabada was expensive with the ball as he registered an economy rate of 10.5+. However, Rabada played a sublime knock with the willow by slamming 13 runs off 7 balls.  

Keshav Maharaj (5/10): Keshav Maharaj ended up conceding 34 runs in his four overs. The spinner also failed to pick any wicket against Sri Lanka. 

Anrich Nortje (8/10): Anrich Nortje was brillant with the ball. The seamer picked as many as two wickets while giving just 27 runs in his four overs. 

Tabraiz Shamsi (9/10): Tabraiz Shamsi was the wrecker-in-chief for South Africa. The Chinaman bowler gave away just 17 runs in his three overs while picking up a three-wicket haul. 

Sri Lanka 

Kusal Perera (3/10): The opening batter Kusal Perera failed to impress. He was dismissed at a score of 7 runs.  

Pathum Nissanka (9.5/10): The other opening batter Pathum Nissanka emerged as a silver lining for Sri Lanka. Nissanka slammed 72 runs off 58 balls to help his team post a decent score.  

Charith Asalanka (5/10): Charith Asalanka also started off on a good note but failed to get going. He lost his wicket due to a run-out after scoring 21 runs off 14 balls. 

Avishka Fernando (1/10): The match against Bangladesh didn’t go as per the plan for Avishka Fernando. The 23-year-old scored just three runs. 

Bhanuka Rajapaksa (1/10): Bhanuka Rajapaksa delivered a below-average performance as he scored a three-ball duck. 

Dasun Shanaka (c) (3/10): The skipper Dasun Shanaka failed to live up to the expectations as he ended up scoring only 11 runs in the 12 balls he faced throughout the game. 

Wanindu Hasaranga (8/10): Wanindu Hasaranga had a terrific outing with the ball. The spinner picked up three important wickets while bowling at an impressive economy rate of 5.    

Maheesh Theekshana (5/10): Maheesh Theekshana didn’t enjoy much success as he leaked 31 runs in his four overs. 

Chamika Karunaratne (5/10): Chamika Karunaratne bowled a total of three overs in the game and went wicketless. He also gave away 23 runs to the opposite team.

Dushmantha Chameera (8/10): Dushmantha Chameera was successful in sending back both the South Africa opening batters. Chemeera also put a halt to the flow of the runs by giving just 27 runs in his four overs.
