The BCCI honoured Virat Kohli on Friday (March 4) ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka at Mohali. Kohli is only the 12th Indian cricketer to have played 100 Test matches in his career. Rahul Dravid, who handled the felicitation due to bio-bubble restrictions, was accompanied by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who watched the moment unfold. Kohli received a special 100th Test cap from Rahul Dravid, who lavished him with praise.

Kohli was elated and referred to it as a special moment in time. His wife Anushka Sharma was with him in the middle, and his brother was in the stands. TIn addition to expressing his joy over Dravid presenting him with his 100th Test cap, the 33-year-old also thanked his teammates, saying that he would have been unable to play so many matches without their support.

“My wife is here with me, my brother is there in the stands. It’s a team game and the journey wouldn’t have been possible without you guys. Thanks to BCCI too. I couldn’t have received it from a better person, my childhood hero. I still have that picture with you from my U-15 days,” said Virat

Virat Kohli’s advice to the next generation of cricketers

Virat Kohli also recommended young cricketers learn from him about playing the longest form of the game for such a long time despite playing a lot of cricket. Considering the level of cricket played today with three formats and an IPL, the most valuable takeaway for the next generation will be that I played 100 matches in the purest format, he said.

The fans are anxiously anticipating whether Virat Kohli will be able to end his century drought in this special Test match. He last scored an international century in November 2019.
