WATCH – Steve Smith, David Warner and the Aussies erupt in celebration as they win maiden T20 World Cup
Steve Smith and David Warner lead Aussie celebrations
The Australians storm the field as Glenn Maxwell’s reverse scoop seals the T20 World Cup 2021 for the Kangaroos. In the dugout, Steve Smith and David Warner jumped in glee as the Aussies get their hands on the only limited over ICC trophy that was missing from their cabinet. Yet again, the Men in Yellow come out on top in a trans-Tasman showdown in the final of an ICC event.
Despite a slow start, New Zealand put up a fighting total of 172 on the board as Kane Williamson‘s brilliant knock steered them. But the Aussies proved to be too good as they chased it down with seven balls to spare. Half-centuries from Warner and Mitchell Marsh helped Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup.

As Glenn Maxwell’s reverse scoop trickled towards the boundary, the celebrations began in the Aussie camp. As the players stormed the field, the duo of Smith and Warner could be seen leading the celebrations in the dugout. Warner, who had an extraordinary tournament, was particularly pumped about his side’s win.
Coming off a disastrous IPL season, Warner ended up as the second-highest run-getter and payer of the tournament. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood were two other big guns who had a breakout tournament as their side emerged victorious. The only ICC trophy that is missing from the Aussie’s cabinet is the World Test Championship mace and it is a different ball game altogether.
