Romario Shepherd bowled the second over, allowing only 5 runs, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 7 runs in the third over of the match. The fourth over was bowled by express pacer Umran Malik, and it proved to be a disastrous over for Sunrisers Hyderabad, as the pacer was smashed for four boundaries by Buttler and leaked 21 runs.
The RR openers scored 18 and 6 runs in the next two overs, which were bowled by Washington Sundar and T Natarajan, respectively, to help Rajasthan Royals reach the 58-run mark at the end of the powerplay.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had the worst powerplay performance of any team in the Indian Premier League, scoring only 14 runs while losing three wickets. Previously, the Rajasthan Royals scored 14 runs in the powerplay in 2009 but lost two wickets.
SRH also lost Abhishek Sharma for 9 runs and Abdul Samad for 4 runs. In the end, Aiden Markram and Washington Sundar batted well, but it wasn’t enough for the team to win.

Sunrisers Hyderabad register lowest-ever powerplay score in IPL history

After being reduced to 14/3 in the first six overs, SRH were not only in a hopeless position from then on, but they have now also taken the lead in registering the lowest-ever powerplay score in IPL history. Coincidentally, the Orange Army broke the 13-year record set by their evening’s opponents, the Rajasthan Royals, in the 2009 edition of the Indian Premier League, when they were reduced to 14/2 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Cape Town.
Surprisingly, the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, are third, fourth, and fifth on the list. During a 2011 game at Eden Gardens, they were reduced to 15/2 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Apart from that, the four-time winners were reeling at 16/1 twice, once against Delhi in 2015 at Raipur and then four years later against RCB at Chennai.
