“Superstar in the making”- Fans praise Abdul Samad for eye-catching shots in the net ahead of IPL 2022
The young stalwart of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Abdul Samad, has been practising his hitting skills with some flamboyant shots ahead of the IPL 2022. During the recent Ranji Trophy for Jammu and Kashmir, the 20-year-old scored 233 runs and took three wickets in three group stage matches.
The Jammu and Kashmir-born player shared a clip of his hitting exploits on Instagram before the start of the 15th edition of the tournament on March 26. On the first delivery, he beat the delivery long-on with a clean, flowing shot, while on the second, he made space and sliced the delivery over the off-side. The third stroke, which was arguably the pick of the lot, saw the batter simply swivel the bat in his arms, take a step to the leg-side and play an unorthodox shot behind the wickets.
As part of their social media campaign, the franchise posted pictures of the all-rounder on their accounts. The uncapped player has a huge IPL season ahead of him. He has struggled for form in white-ball cricket since the Vijay Hazare campaign at the end of last year. The youngster only scored 35 runs in five matches as Jammu Kashmir finished last in the group with one solitary win.

Abdul Samad was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad retained Abdul Samad as their second pick as a result of his ability to bat in the death overs across the last two editions. Along with Kane Williamson and Umran Malik, Abdul Samad was retained for 4 crores by the 2016 IPL Champions. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been scheduled to open their IPL 2022 season against the Rajasthan Royals on March 29 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
