Mr. IPL Suresh Raina finds himself under the fire once again as the batter continued his lean patch in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Raina has been the backbone behind Chennai Super Kings’ tremendous run in the T20 extravaganza over the years. However, the middle-order batter is struggling with his form this year as he has failed to produce even a single good knock.
Though the Super Kings are living a dream ride in IPL 2021, Raina isn’t having a good personal campaign. Saturday, October 2 was a big day for the UP-born as he was featuring in his 200th IPL match as Chennai locked horns with Rajasthan Royals. To bring Raina out from his lean patch, Dhoni promoted him up the order to bat at number three.
The stage was set for the flamboyant batsman as Rutraj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis had stitched an opening stand of 47 runs. However, Suresh Raina failed to capitalize on the opportunity as he marched back to the pavilion after scoring just three runs.

The 34-year-old lost his wicket in the ninth over to the spinner Rahul Tewatia. On the third delivery, Raina tried to attempt the slog sweep by going down on his knee. However, he failed to time the shot properly and the ball landed straight in the hands of Shivam Dube who was standing at deep mid-wicket.
The poor performance by the batter left the cricket fans enraged as they took to Twitter to slam Raina. Many fans suggested that its time for the swashbuckling batter to bid adieu to the T20 league. Meanwhile, there were some who also suggested dropping the batter to pave the way for Robin Uthappa.
Notably, this was the fourth time in the last six matches that Suresh Rain walked back after scoring a single-digit score. Also, the batter has scored only 160 runs in 12 IPL 2021 innings so far with an average of below 20 and a strike rate of 130.
