Earlier Mumbai Indians shared a video where Rajasthan Royal’s Lasith Malinga could be seen chatting with his former IPL team MI’s players. Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav were having fun banter with Malinga. Both the teams have started training for the next match. Malinga was once Bumrah’s bowling partner when the former played for MI.

You can watch the video here:

Malinga is the highest wicket taker in IPL and retired from all forms of cricket in 2021. He scalped 170 wickets across nine seasons for MI. Dwyane Bravo is just one wicket away to equal his record. RR roped the legendary bowler as their fast bowling coach ahead of the IPL. He will work alongside head coach Kumar Sangakkara.

It’s a wonderful feeling for me to return to the IPL and an absolute honour to join Rajasthan Royals, a franchise that has always promoted and developed young talents.” Malinga had said.

Mumbai Indian middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav joined the MI squad after undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He recovered from a finger injury that he suffered during India vs West Indies series last month. Suryakumar Yadav was one of the four players MI retained ahead of the mega auction.

His recovery is a piece of positive news for the MI before their match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 5. He missed MI’s first match against the Delhi Capitals. DC made sure to take full advantage of the inexperienced middle order.

In a statement, MI said: “Suryakumar Yadav exited his mandatory quarantine and joined the team (on Wednesday) for the gym session in the company of his mates Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan, and Jasprit Bumrah…The mood in the camp is upbeat.

The team underwent a strength and conditioning session yesterday under the watchful eyes of Paul Chapman. The session involved weight and fitness training, with the focus on working on core fitness and building strength.”
