T20 World Cup 2021: ‘#BanIPL’ trends as India produce dismal batting performance against New Zealand
Ravindra Jadeja was India's top-scorer during IND-NZ clash
The Indian cricket team produced yet another disappointing performance in the ongoing 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The Virat Kohli-led side miserably failed against New Zealand in the 16th Super 12 stage match of the tournament.
India were asked to bat first as skipper Kohli lost yet another toss. The Kiwi bowling attack was all over the opposition as they gave no chance to the Indian batters. The ‘Men in Blue’ kept losing wickets at a regular interval just like the previous game against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Team India posted their worst ever total (in T20 WC history) of 110/7 at the end of their quota of 20 overs. Hardik Pandya (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (24*) emerged as the top-scorers while all other batters looked in poor touch.
On the other hand, the Blackcaps bowlers produced an outstanding spell effort as most of them were able to tick the wickets column. Speedster Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers with his spell of 4-0-20-3 while Ish Sodhi (2/17/ also bowled exceptionally well.
‘#BanIPL’ – Twitterati fumes as India batters yet again collapse
Soon after India’s innings came to an end, netizens came out frustrated to express themselves on various social media platforms. Meanwhile, #BanIPL’ was also trending as people criticized the timing of the cash-rich league, which took place right before the WC.
