T20 World Cup 2021: “India pressed the panic button before the toss” – Ajay Jadeja slams Virat Kohli and Co
Ajay Jadeja laments hard at Team India
Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has reckoned that the ‘Men in Blue’ pressed the panic button even before the game started against New Zealand on Sunday. The cricketer-turned-commentator stated that the Kiwis were a strong unit as compared to Virat Kohli‘s men.
The Indian cricket team’s poor run in the ongoing 2021 ICC T20 World Cup continues as they lost yet another one-sided match. Kane Williamson and co beat India by eight wickets to increase difficulty in the latter’s chances for qualifying for the semi-finals.
“New Zealand were dominant on India even before the game started. India pressed, what I could call the panic button, before the toss with the team they picked. Then, losing the toss was also a big setback. Obviously, that wasn’t in India’s hands. But the openers (Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul) who walked in were a surprise. There were more surprises at numbers three (Rohit Sharma) and four (Virat Kohli) as well,” Ajay Jadeja said in a debate on Cricbuzz.
“India lost the plot with confusion in the top order” – Jadeja
The 50-year-old slammed the Indian team management for disturbing the entire batting order. He said:
“By the time New Zealand came out to bat, nothing was left in the game. There were only faint hopes, which also disappeared the way they bowled in the first six overs.”
Ajay Jadeja further went on to say that the dismal performance by the batters (110/7 in 20 overs) left nothing to defend for the bowlers in the second innings.
“The debate over the last few days was over Hardik Pandya’s bowling and whether Shardul Thakur should play. But they lost the plot with the confusion in the top order, which is the star power of any batting side in T20s,” Jadeja signed off.
