Mayank Markande and Jaydev Unadkat picked by Mumbai Indians at IPL 2022 Mega Auction

The cricketing world must be glued to their television sets as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction is currently underway at ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru. Almost 600 are set to try their luck while going under the hammer in a two-day event on February 12 and 13.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) grabbed all the headlines as they once again secured the services of Ishan Kishan for a whopping INR 15.25 crores. This marked their most expensive buy in the history of the league, making him the second-richest Indian player in the IPL.

Apart from Kishan, the five-time champions also bagged spin bowler Mayank Markande and fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat on the second day of the mega auction. Notably, the duo was previously associated with Rajasthan Royals (RR) but didn’t get many opportunities in the last few seasons.

Reacting to this, the social media team of the inaugural edition champions came up with a special message for the new home team of their previous players. RR took to Twitter and wrote: “Take care of our boys @MIPaltan”

The Mumbai-based franchise had tried to keep their core group intact after retaining Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard. However, they also went bonkers after English pace bowler Jofra Archer for INR 8 crores.

However, the spearhead won’t be available for the upcoming season as he’s still recovering from an injury. However, the Ambani-owned team has gone with a long-term vision to pick Archer on Sunday. This leads to some interesting scenes in the future to see Bumrah and Archer bowl in tandem for the Paltan.
