Team India’s disastrous performance against New Zealand causes furore on Twitter

T20 World Cup

Nothing is going as per the plan for the Indian cricket team. India started the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 as favorites. However, the team has failed to show any intent or character in the Global T20 event so far. The Men in Blue look completely out of form as they registered their second consecutive loss in the tournament on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Virat Kohli’s team kick-started their campaign in the tournament with an embarrassing defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan by ten wickets. Fans were hoping for India to bounce back stronger, however, the team succumbed to another disastrous outing. The Men in Blue were beaten by the Kiwi side by eight wickets in their second match.

The two back-to-back losses have angered the cricket fans to no extent and many people took to Twitter to unleash their wrath. Fans condemned the presence of the star players in the team who haven’t contributed anything neither with the ball nor with the bat. Some even went to the extent of suggesting the team’s senior and main players to retire from the game.

Indian batters fail to perform against New Zealand

As the credit for New Zealand’s dismal outing against New Zealand goes to the poor performance delivered by the hosts batting unit. There was no intent or aggression from the Indian batters as they easily gifted their wickets to the opposition. Batting first, India ended up with only 110 runs in 20 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja was the highest run-scorer for the team with not out 26 runs from 19 balls. No other batter could touch even 25 runs in the game. Ish Sidhi caused the most damage to the opposition as he dismissed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Apart from Sodhi, Trent Boult impressed the most as he picked up a three-wicket haul. The Kiwi side completed the 111 run target within14.3 overs to win the match by eight wickets.
