“Too much of conflict all around” – Sourav Ganguly on Sachin Tendulkar’s possible involvement in Indian cricket
Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar
Former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has yet again expressed his desire to have former cricketers in the current set-up. After the arrival of Rahul Dravid as head coach and VVS Laxman as NCA chief, the 49-year-old wants to have Sachin Tendulkar on board.
Tendulkar isn’t seen much as a commentator or administrator after retirement unlike most cricketers of his era. However, he works as the mentor of his former Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI).
In a recent media interaction, Ganguly stated that the ‘Master Blaster’ doesn’t want to be involved in Indian cricket amidst the conflict all around. But he also mentioned that there couldn’t be better news than Tendulkar’s arrival in the national set-up.
“Sachin is obviously a bit different. He doesn’t want to be involved in all this. I’m sure with Sachin’s involvement in Indian cricket in some way, it can’t be better news than that. In what way that obviously needs to be worked out. Because there is too much of conflict all around,” Ganguly said on Boria Majumdar’s show ‘Backstage with Boria’.
“Sachin will find way to be involved in Indian cricket”
Sourav Ganguly further went on to say that Sachin will surely find a way to be involved in Indian cricket in near future.
“Rightly or wrongly, anything and everything you do you have the word ‘conflict’ keeps jumping out of the window, some of which I find really really unrealistic. So you have to see the best way to keep the best talent involved in the game. And at some stage Sachin will also find a way to be involved in Indian cricket,” he added.
Notably, Sourav Ganguly is currently not having a great time as the Board president owing to the ongoing fiasco with skipper Virat Kohli.
