In the 49th match of IPL 2021, Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders sealed an easy win over Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets. With this win, they have kept their hopes alive to qualify for the playoffs of the tournament.
Batting first, SRH failed to get off to a good start as they Wriddhiman Saha went back to the pavilion after scoring a golden duck. The batting never looked in control as wickets continued to fall and there was not good partnership. Due to the efforts of Abdul Samad, they somehow posted a total of 115 runs on the board but lost eight wickets on the way.
KKR’s opener Shubman Gill stole the show as the youngster scored 57 runs off 51 deliveries. He held back one end really strong and with the support from Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik, KKR managed to achieve the target in 19.4 overs.
After this win, KKR are still on the fourth spot in the points table of IPL 2021 with just one game to go. On the other hand, SRH are at the bottom of the table and will finish at the same spot now.

Interestingly, SRH’s loss has made it difficult for Mumbai Indians to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2021. Thus, fans also made a lot of memes showing their fans in a lot of pain.
Even though SRH didn’t play well, there was a great news for them as their debutant, Umran Malik, bowled the fastest delivery of the season. The Twitteratis took a moment and hailed the youngster for his good bowling spell.
